New Partnership Enables International Development Company to Leverage One Network’s Blockchain-enabled Platform to Ensure the Timely Delivery of Critical Medicines in Nigeria
Washington, D.C. and Dallas, TX– July 10, 2018– – Chemonics International, one of the world’s leading international development consulting firms working in over 70 countries, and One Network Enterprises, a global provider of multi-party digital network platform and services, today announced a new partnership to promote and safeguard the timely and safe delivery of health medicines and commodities throughout Nigeria. Chemonics will use One Network’s Real Time Value Network™ (RTVN) to create a blockchain-enabled Control Tower that will ensure supply chain visibility, chain of custody services, on-time delivery performance, and order replenishment capabilities. To learn more about how Chemonics is leveraging data to help Nigeria create end-to-end visibility across the supply chain, view this short video here.
Through the USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program-Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project, and the Global Fund Nigeria Supply Chain Integration and Nigeria Warehousing and Distribution Services project, Chemonics helps deliver lifesaving health commodities to mitigate HIV/AIDS and malaria, contribute to infectious disease control, and support the reproductive health and maternal and child health goals of the U.S. government.
One Network’s Control Tower solution will serve as a central hub with the ability to capture data from Nigeria’s 17 warehouses and distribution centers and 19,000 health facilities in the international donor-supported supply chain. As a result, Chemonics will be able to track health commodities in real-time across all parties from suppliers, transporters, distribution networks, and into the final health facility for disbursement to the end patient. In addition to generating supply chain efficiencies and enhancing data visibility, use of the Control Tower is expected to result in up to $2 million in savings each year in Nigeria.
“By working with One Network and implementing their RTVN, we can provide real-time supply chain visibility, on-time delivery performance, replenishment ordering, inventory management, and future efforts around forecasting, demand planning, and warehousing. This will help us to create a more efficient and agile supply chain within Nigeria and other countries around the globe, and to continue to re-imagine global supply chains to ensure essential medicines are delivered to the right place at the right time,” said Jamey Butcher, Executive Vice President at Chemonics.
In Nigeria — one of the few countries where GHSC-PSM is responsible for delivering commodities throughout the supply chain all the way to local clinics — the project has opened state-of-the-art central warehouses in Abuja and Lagos that have increased storage capacity and improved supply management, security, and delivery, leading to significant time and cost savings. Through the Global Fund Warehousing and Distribution Services project in Nigeria, Chemonics leveraged the robust GHSC-PSM platform to provide warehousing and distribution for Global Fund-procured HIV and malaria commodities. With One Network’s Control Tower platform, Chemonics will be able to maximize savings and enhance coordination among parallel supply chains and donors and continue to improve the health care experience for communities in Nigeria.
Chemonics will also partner with One Network to provide business planning optimization services in other countries to boost efficiency, accountability, and access to accurate information in real-time for customers and trading partners on the network.
“We are excited to have a leading international organization like Chemonics on the RTVN and to help them and their projects with USAID and Global Fund safeguard how critical life or death medication is distributed across the supply chain,” said Greg Brady, Founder and CEO of One Network. “It is especially important in the consulting and service industry to be agile and responsive to dynamic changes in the ecosystem, and One Network’s platform is ideally suited to meet this challenge and ensure the well-being of individuals.”
