What is WMS?

WMS means Warehouse Management System, a system that helps manage all aspects of a warehouse.

A Warehouse Management System (WMS) is a software application designed to support and optimize the operations of a warehouse or distribution center. It controls the movement and storage of materials within a warehouse and processes the associated transactions, including shipping, receiving, putaway, and picking, and packing.

The WMS also directs and optimizes stock putaway based on real-time information about the status of inventory levels and storage space availability. It essentially provides a centralized system where businesses can control their entire warehouse operations, from entry to exit, and gain insights to improve efficiency and accuracy, minimize costs, and streamline processes.

Key features of a WMS typically include inventory tracking, data analysis, reporting tools, and integration with other business systems like ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) or TMS (Transportation Management System).

One Network's Perspective on WMS

One Network’s NEO Platform is unique in that it offers a Warehouse Management System that it connects to other related services on the network, such as Yard Management System (YMS) and Transportation Management System (TMS).

One Network’s WMS solution supports the usual functions, such as: Location Configuration, Inventory Management, Issuing Inventory,Picking, Packing, Receiving, Put Away, Inventory Auditing, Kitting, and WMS Financials.

But more importantly, it is natively integrated to related services such as: scheduling and yard management, order management system (OMS) for collaboration, and advanced shipment notices (ASN), multi-echelon inventory optimization (MEIO), replenishment, sourcing and order promising, and capacity planning.

This is what it enables it to function more intelligently to optimize, coordinate, and automate functions in the warehouse and across the supply chain, to ensure higher service levels to customers at a lower cost.
